New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday summoned Union Minister Giriraj Singh over his recent controversial remark on Deoband.
Mr Singh recently made a controversial statement about Deoband during his visit to Saharanpur.
According to party sources, the party president Mr Nadda was upset, so he was summoned to the party office today.
The party is understood to have objected to Mr Singh's statements and warned him to exercise restraint in future. Mr Singh did not talk to anyone while leaving the party office after meeting Mr Nadda.
On February 12, Mr Singh has said Deoband is the 'Gangotri of terrorism'. He has said all major terrorists from across the world have been born here , including Hafiz Saeed or any of the others.
Deoband has seen fierce anti-CAA protests by minority community women over the past months and has faced attack from BJP leaders.
Deoband is also home to the Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband.
