Nadda calls for participation of pvt hospitals in addressing health issues
New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda has called for participation of the private healthcare units in dealing with the rising health issues so as to make India a healthy country. Mr Nadda said that the Indian health system was facing dual challenges of communicable and non- communicable diseases, rural and urban areas and private and public sector and there was an urgent need to bridge this gap. He urged the private players to join hands with the government to address this crucial gap. The Health Minister was speaking at ‘The Economics Times Best Healthcare Brands 2016, here last evening. The Minister said the health standard in India at present was not discouraging compared to the world as there was a decline in infant and maternal mortality rates. Mr Nadda said that India was successful in arresting life threatening disease like HIV, malaria and Tuberculosis and measures were being taken to see that they declined. Soon every district of the country would be equipped with CBNAAT machines to detect Tuberculosis. Stressing on improving the healthcare system in rural areas, the Minister informed that the government had earmarked Rs 900 crore to equip every district with dialysis facility, where patients from Below Poverty Line (BPL) could be provided treatment free of cost. On rotavirus, Mr Nadda said that with the introduction of the vaccine in the Indradhanush Mission, around 80,000 lives could be saved. Others, who also spoke on the occasion, were Secretary, Department of Health & Research Dr Sowmya Swaminathan , Director General of Health Services Dr Jagdish Prasad, who also urged upon the private health players to come forward and adopt one district as the government alone cannot address the issue.
