Pyongyang, Nov 30 (UNI) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at a meeting with Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov condemned Western permission for Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range weapons, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Earlier, the ministry reported that Belousov arrived in North Korea on an official visit Friday. The minister is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with North Korean high-ranking military officials and political leaders.
"The United States and the West forced the Kiev authorities to attack Russian territory with their own long-range strike weapons. Russia must take measures to make hostile forces pay a price," the news agency quoted Kim as saying.
Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder has confirmed that the Biden administration had authorized Kiev to use long-range US-supplied missiles, such as ATACMS, to strike deep into Russian territory. He said that the attacks were focused on the Kursk Region.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine had struck targets in the Kursk and Bryansk regions on November 19, using ATACMS missiles and UK-supplied Storm Shadows. He said Russia in response successfully test-fired an Oreshnik ballistic missile on November 21, hitting a Ukrainian defence industry complex in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, also known as Dnipro.
