Mysore Race Club to host Indian Turf Invitation Cup from Feb 29

Mysuru, Feb 27 (UNI) In a first, Mysore Race Club (MRC) will be hosting the 58th edition of the Indian Turf Invitation Cup 2020 on Feb 29 and Mar 1, organisers said on Thursday.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, MRC Chairman Dr N Nithyanand Rao said the two day event will see more than 250 horses from across the country racing and it is for the first time that this prestigious Invitation Cup is being held in Mysuru.
He also informed that there will be a total of 16 races and the total stake money is around 4 crores.
Mr Rao said that after getting the Independent Turf Authority status in 2014, Mysore Race Club has been looking forward to host the event and expecting a huge crowd.
The club has made elaborate facilities and arrangements for the punters and delegations, who will take part from all across the country, he added.
On the occasion of the turf invitation event, the club has proposed to increase its membership for another 50 to existing of 250 members however, this has to approved by the general body meeting besides government’s permission also, Mr Nithyanand said.
Referring to extension of lease period of the club, he said the government has agreed for the same and shortly the club will sign for another 30 years period.
Meanwhile, in a noble gesture, the mysuru race club eye hospital will organise a mega eye check up camp on March 2.
The eye hospital is one of the best in the city and so far 94,000 people have benefited with surgery in a free of cost, he said.
