Myanmar seizes over 62 tons of illegal timbers

Yangon, Jan 17 (UNI) Myanmar authorities have seized over 62 tons of illegal timbers across the country in a week, the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Friday.
Between Jan. 6 and 12, they confiscated over 15 tons of teak, over 4.09 tons of hardwood and over 43 tons of other types of timbers in the country's regions, states and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the report said.
During the period, 25 offenders were charged in connection with the cases, along with the seizure of 10 vehicles, it added.
