Myanmar refugee numbers rise to over 33,000 in Mizoram

Aizawl, Dec 8 (UNI)As many as 42 Myanmar refugees entered Mizoram between mid-November and December 3, bringing the total to 33,036, officials from the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department said on Sunday.
During this period, 117 refugees arrived in the state while 75 left. Central Mizoram’s Serchhip district saw the highest influx with 113 arrivals, while 59 individuals left Siaha district and 19 exited Khawzawl district. Kolasib district, bordering Assam, reported four new arrivals.
Among the refugees, 9,902 are males, 10,501 are females, and 12,633 are children. Currently, 16,575 individuals are accommodated in 126 relief camps across seven districts, while 16,461 are residing outside the camps. Four districts do not host any relief camps.
