Myanmar military, Arakan Army clashes injures two; around 200 flee northern Rakhine

Naypyidaw, Jan 17 (UNI) A fresh violence erupted between the Myanmar military and Arakan Army in northern Rakhine state, leaving two injured and forcing about 200 villagers to flee their homes in Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships.
According to village head Thein Naing Win, the two boys of 10 and 18 years were injured and one house was destroyed when a stray mortar shell exploded in Maungdaw’s Yan Aung Myin village, though it is unclear whether the Myanmar Army or the AA fired the shell.
Both were taken to Maungdaw Hospital for treatment, he added.
