Mumbai’s Braun GP Team Wins First Place in AI Hackathon; MIT-WPU Runner-Up Position

Pune, May 11 (UNI) Accepting the challenge of using the power of Artificial Intelligence to solve real-world problems, the national-level hackathon competition “IGNISIA-2026” was held recently at the MIT World Peace University here.
In the competition, Mumbai’s Braun GP team won first place for their solutions to fintech-related problems, while MIT-WPU’s “Beyond Bits” secured the runner-up position, and “TriStack Overflow” from Manipal University, Karnataka, won the second runner-up position. Both teams delivered outstanding performances in the SMEO2 challenge, according to a release.
The “IGNISIA-2026" national-level hackathon competition was organized jointly by the Polytechnic & Skill Development Department and the Department of Computer Engineering & Technology of MIT World Peace University under the slogan, 'Think, create and Evolve'.

Maulana surrenders before Nagpur police in conversion, rape case; Police to seek custody

Nagpur, Jun 18 (UNI) A Maulana accused of facilitating the alleged forced conversion and rape of a 24-year-old woman surrendered before Nagpur Police late Wednesday night after remaining absconding for several days, police said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Hazrat, a resident of Tamia in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district, appeared at Sonegaon police station and surrendered, a senior police official said.
According to police, multiple teams had been deployed to trace him, with officers camping in Tamia for the past several days.
