MSRTC employees' strike enters 42nd day

Aurangabad, Dec 8 (UNI) Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC) employees strike on Wednesday entered in 42nd day which is highest long period strike in history of MSRTC.
Due to strike called by over 93,000 employees in 250 depot with capacity of over 16000 buses in the state common peoples were badly suffering which main safe mode of transport across in the state.
However, MSRTC management claims that over 19000 employees were returned on duty mostly office staff employees and starts services for limited routes with help of available employees.
Large numbers of drivers and conductors across the state still adamant on their main demand to merger with state government.
So far over 9000 employees were served suspension and over 2500 temporary were terminated from their service .
The state government also warned the employees to return on duty otherwise they will face action under the Maharashtra Essential Maintenance Services Act (Mesma).
Meanwhile ,The state government has started to pay increased salaries since yesterday onwards those who were on duty including 28 per cent dearness allowance, while housing allowance was also given as 8 per cent, 16 per cent, 24 per cent.
The increase was seen in the November month salary of employees who attended regular work.
Meanwhile, traffic resumed smoothly in 133 out of 250 depots in the state till last evening . The corporation has expressed the possibility of further increase in it.
Report from Osmanabad and Parbhani district stated that with the help of returned employees services has been starts for few routes from these depot.
In Aurangabad bus services for few destination also resumed since two days back however services from main bus stand still halted due to strike.
However, due to long period of strike across the state private jeeps and travel agencies are charging hefty charges from the passengers with violating RTO norms like overloading passengers in their vehicle to ferry out passengers.
