MP’s cities to be of int’l level

Bhopal, Nov 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government is studying master plans of New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and Munich so as to ensure world-class Geographic Information System-based planning of this state’s 34 cities/towns, Urban Development and Housing Minister Jaivardhan Singh averred on Tuesday.
“We will adopt crucial points in transit-oriented development, mix land use, zoning plan, traffic impact study, etc. A land-pooling policy shall come into existence in the near future and make landholders the stakeholders. The Housing Board, tourism and local bodies will be included. In order to lend momentum to real estate, a one state-one registration formula is being introduced. The government granted permission to people possessing less than 2 hectares to make housing schemes,” the politician was officially quoted as saying.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s objective is that every household must have habitable land, Mr Singh said, adding that construction of 1,15,892 residential units was approved under the Mukhya Mantri Awas Mission launched on September 11. The process of distributing lease deeds to 1.5 lakh landless families is underway.
