MP Govt to increase focus on jobs for locals

Bhopal, July 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government shall make endeavours in the near future to ensure that industries operating within the state eventually have 70 per cent locals in their workforce, Finance Minister Tarun Bhanot assured the Assembly on Friday.
Replying to a two-day-long general discussion on the Kamal Nath dispensation’s maiden Annual Financial Statement, he averred, “A decision has been taken to employ 70 per cent local persons in factories that will be established.”

At that juncture, some Opposition members said that the Treasury bench should make the situation clear with regard to existing units.

“The historic Budget enshrines provisions amounting to Rs 31,463 crore for development, which is 20 per cent higher than the corresponding figure in the previous financial year. On the lines of Tamil Nadu, rates have been reduced by 20 per cent in property-related guidelines. It is estimated that would result in revenue enhancement. It is improper on part of the Centre to reduce the state’s share by approximately Rs 2,700 crore. Opposition members should make efforts to reverse the matter. The Tirth Darshan Yojana has not been terminated. A sum of Rs 378 cr was earmarked for the Ayushman Yojana,” the Minister said.

Approximately 30 members participated in the deliberation.
