MP Govt duped ryots vis-a-vis loan remission: BJP

MP Govt duped ryots vis-a-vis loan remission: BJP

Bhopal, July 11 (UNI) Firing a broadside over various issues at the Treasury bench in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, erstwhile minister Narottam Mishra (Bharatiya Janata Party) alleged on Thursday that the dispensation swindled cultivators by altering the order in the context of agrarian debt waiver.
Initiating a general discussion on the Budget, the senior Member – who employed sarcasm as a weapon – said, “Peasants are under a loan burden of Rs 48,000 crore but a provision of only Rs 8,000 cr was made under that head. Tillers are ending their very existences and paucity of electricity is causing delay in sowing.”

Attacking the government on frequent transfers of bureaucrats, Dr Mishra said, “The Congress regime – which accuses the predecessor BJP dispensation of leaving behind empty coffers – expended in excess of Rs 50 cr in administrative expenditure alone. ‘Repair’ running into crores was executed at ministers’ bungalows. The government is implicating BJP workers in fabricated cases.”

Meanwhile, in response to a remark by Public Health Engineering Minister Sukhdev Panse, Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava denied having dispatched any communication regarding his bungalow.

“If even one such letter comes to the fore, I shall renounce politics,” he said.

Participating in the discussion, Urban Welfare and Housing Minister Jaivardhan Singh pointed out that meat trade increased during BJP tenure.

“Dr Mishra took note of suicides by 71 farmers during the present regime but not the 20,000 such cases that occurred in BJP rule. Ex gratia of Rs 1 crore each was paid in the context of six ryots who perished in the Mandsaur firing but the then dispensation was unconcerned about growers who killed themselves. A homicide case ought to be registered against perpetrators of the Mandsaur incident.”
