MP Govt ayes Sanwer Project

Bhopal, July 4 (UNI) In a crucial decision that shall translate into direct benefit for 272 villages across three districts of Madhya Pradesh, the dispensation on Saturday approved the Rs 2,358.75-crore Sanwer Micro Lift Irrigation Project, it was officially learnt.
The meeting in question, conducted with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Chair, witnessed the senior politician issuing directives vis-à-vis commencement of work after completion of procedures. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat and Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains were among those in attendance.

“The water will irrigate 65,000 hectares of 182 villages within Indore District; 13,000 ha of 80 in Khargone and 2,000 of ten within Ujjain. A pressurised piped canal system shall be laid to provide the facility in villages benefitting from the Omkareshwar reservoir. A total of 31 cumec shall be lifted including 1.50 cumec for potable purpose and a like quantum for industrial utilisation. As much as 0.285 MAF will be used in the venture,” Mr Chouhan averred.

On this momentous occasion, the veteran leader extended greetings to citizens and took the salute. The parade comprised contingents of women personnel of the Special Armed Force besides district forces, Government Railway Police, Hawk Force, Special Task Force, Home Guard, Jails Department and Police Band, it was officially learnt.
