Mozambique: 10 dead, 85 injured in President's campaign rally

Maputo, Sep 12 (UNI) At least 10 people have been killed and 85 injured in a stampede at Nampula city in north Mozambique, during a campaign rally of President Filipe Nyusi.

According to Sputnik, the deadly stampede reportedly occurred closer to the end of the event, as people rushed to the exit doors of the overcrowded stadium on Wednesday.

The deceased include six women and four men, Sputnik quoted Ouest-France as saying, citing the statement of Mr Nyusi's ruling party, the Liberation Front of Mozambique.

Mr Nyusi is looking for a second term in office. The general elections are scheduled for October 15. His Frelimo party has dominated the Mozambique politics for more than four decades.
