Lucknow, Jan 20 (UNI) Samajwadi party on Monday received a shot in its arm after former Bahujan Samaj Party leader Ram Prasad Chaudhary, along with 200 leaders, including three former MLAs and six district Panchayat members, joined the SP.
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, had on November 23, expelled Mr Chaudhary from the party on allegations of indiscipline, after which there was speculation that he may join the SP.
Mr Chaudhary was a known face of the BSP in the Basti division and had been elected as an MLA from the Kaptanganj Assembly seat of Basti, five times. He was also the Minister in the Mayawati government.
