Mother, her 2 sons arrested for attacking, robbing elder man in Thane

Thane, Aug 19 (UNI) Three members of a family, including a woman and her two sons, have been arrested by the Rural Police on the charge of allegedly robbing an old man of Rs 1.05 lakh in Bhayander town.

The incident occurred on the night of August four, when the 70-year-old victim was on the way to Bhayander, at that time, two unidentified people came on a two-wheeler, flung chilli powder in his eyes, punched him and robbed his gold chain, bracelet, ring, mobile phone and cash collectively worth Rs 1.05 lakh, police said today.
Following the robbery, an offence under sections 394, 341, 323 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code
was then registered with the Kashimira police station against two unknown persons in this regard.
The police swung into action and nabbed the first alleged accused, Tarbez alias Munna Azam Khan (24), an autorickshaw driver.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have committed the crime, along with his mother and younger brother.
Thereafter, police also arrested his mother, Jyoti alias Nilofer alias Anita Gopal Waifalkar (38) and her younger son, Mehtab alias Chotu Azam Khan (23), police said.
Of them, Munna is said to be a notorious criminal and a number of cases of theft and robbery has been registered against him with the Kashimira police.
The arrested accused were produced before a magistrate, who remanded them into police custody till August 21.
According to police, the victim got acquainted with the accused woman some months back and she had borrowed some money from him for the treatment of her son.
As Jyoti was well aware that the victim used to move around wearing gold ornaments, the trio hatched a plan to rob the victim and accordingly on the pretext of refunding the loan, she called him to a place at Kashimira, where the accused two brothers attacked and looted the victim, they aded.
