Mother Care Ward inaugurated at Aurangabad GMCH

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Feb 28 (UNI) State-of-Art Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) ward at Government Medical College and Hospital(GMCH) Aurangabad was inaugurated by District Collector Dr Anant Gavhane on Saturday with Sterlite Technologies Ltd.(STR) CSR contribution, this will be the first of its kind mother and child care ward in Maharashtra,according to the official press release stated on Sunday.
The release further stated that ,Health is crucial indicator of human development and while India has extensive healthcare infrastructure and trained healthcare professionals, majority of these are at urban locations. Additionally neonatal and maternity are two areas relatively unheeded where maximum preventable deaths occur. 35% of new-born deaths in India are preterm, 33% due to neonatal infections and 20% on account of intra-partum related complications or birth asphyxia.
Largely serving rural populations across Marathwada, Ahmednagar, Nasik and Jalgaon, the GMCH in Aurangabad has been a national model for the successful implementation of respectful maternity care through its various services and infrastructure modifications.
