Most Indians, including those in BJP, understand truth about Amit Shah: Rahul

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) On a day when the Supreme Court dismissed petitions for setting up a probe into the death of justice Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin encounter case, where BJP president Amit Shah was an accused, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said 'most Indians, including those in the BJP, instinctively understand the truth about Amit Shah'.
In a post on social media, Rahul Gandhi said, 'Indians are deeply intelligent. Most Indians, including those in the BJP, instinctively understand the truth about Mr Amit Shah. The truth has its own way of catching up with people like him.'.
The Supreme Court had on Thursday dismissed petitions seeking an SIT probe in the death of Judge Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin murder case, where BJP president Amit Shah was one of the accused.
Judge loya died under mysterious circumstances in December, 2014.
The Congress has been demanding a fair investigation into the death of Judge Loya in light of material evidence which raises suspicion on the circumstances around his death.
The Congress, reacting to the Supreme Court order, had said that it is committed to people’s demand for a fair investigation in the matter surrounding Judge Loya’s death.
The BJP, however, attacked the Congress and Mr Rahul Gandhi after the verdict and demanded an apology from Rahul for misleading the nation.
Lashing out against Mr Gandhi, Union Law Minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a press conference here that this was not Public Interest Litigation. `
'`It was Congress Interest Litigation driven to damage the BJP and its President, Amit Shah,’’he said.
Urging Mr Gandhi not to ``fight political battles through courts’’, Mr Prasad said, ``the biggest tragedy is that to settle political scores, the Congress sought to scandalise even judicial authorities and judges to the extent of alleging that the whole conduct amounted to compromise of the independence of the judiciary.’’
Alleging that the PILs were a front for the Congress or in cooperation with the Congress, he said that even the apex court commented on the politicisation of the issue and said that political rivalries have to be resolved on political platform, not through courts.
In a series of tweets, BJP leader and Home Minister Rajnath Singh said said that the judiciary cannot be "misled" by allegations based on political vendetta.
Posting a series of tweets, came down heavily on "several attempts" to target the BJP and its top leaders through "fake" cases.
"It is extremely unfortunate that there have been several attempts of targeting the BJP and assassinating the character of its top leaders on the basis of fake facts. These attempts have failed miserably once again," he tweeted.
Singh also said that the apex court's order had also raised serious questions on the intention of filing such PILs.
