New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Moritz Fürste, a member of the reigning Olympic champions Germany, who will lead the Kalinga Lancers in the upcoming Hockey India League (HIL), today rued the lack of proper recognition for players back home. Morris, who works as a sales and marketing executive in a German advertising firm, said hockey players are compelled to work for a livelihood as they hardly get any financial assistance from the Deutscher Hockey Bund (Germany's Hockey Federation). 'The condition of hockey back in Germany isn't at all great, there isn't any sort of encouragement for hockey players. Every player has to depend on his job or business or take up a job after retirement for earning a livelihood. I work as a sales and marketing executive in an advertising agency and am here for the HIL on unpaid leave,' Moritz, who was adjudged the IHF World Player of the Year told UNI on the sidelines of the launch of the fourth edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) here. 'No, there is no help as far as financial assistance is concerned from the federation. It is only the Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund (German Olympic Council) which has something for the players if you do well at the world events, otherwise there is no such recognition as you have in India,' added he.
