More than 75 per cent Talukas in Karnataka declared drought hit

Bengaluru, Dec 26 (UNI) More than 75 per cent of the total 176 Talukas in Karnataka are drought hit with the State Government adding 56 more Talukas into the list of 100 Talukas as per Central Government's guidelines.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Minister for Revenue R V Deshapande said that with the loss of entire Rabi Crop the State was forced to add 56 more Talukas to the present list of 100 Talukas.
He said that a Cabinet sub-committee chaired by him had recommended another 56 taluks as drought-hit as the entire Rabi crop is withering in over 28 lakh hectare of land, majority of it in Northern Karnataka.
