More emphasis should be given to research in science and technology: Dr SK Shivakumar

Mysuru, Dec 10(uni) There is an urgent need to emphasis on research works in the field of education, science and technology,” chairperson of Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology Academy Dr S K Shivakumar, opined here on Monday.
Speaking after inaugurating ‘Belaku,’ a mobile science laboratory on Monday at Hootagalli Government High School, held in joint association with University of Mysore (UoM), Committee for the Development of Science in Schools (CDSS), Mysuru and Excel Trust, he said that “Science should be part of our day-to-day lives. Discoveries in science and technology has made our life better. It is our responsibility to make the students and people understand the importance of science and technology. Science teaching and studying has to be improved. Students should evince more interest in science subjects,” he added.
Former vice chancellor of Kuvempu University Prof P Venkataramaiah, joint director of the Department of Public Education M P Madegowda, Registrar of UoM Prof R Rajanna, nd others were also present, on the occasion.
