Monsoon session of Goa Assembly begins from July 15

Panaji, Jul 14 (UNI) Following political upheaval which saw ten Congress MLAs switching over side and joining Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa, Monsoon Session of Goa Legislative Assembly starts from Monday.
Out of the ten former Congress MLAs, three have been inducted as ministers in Pramod Sawant government, with former Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar made Deputy Chief Minister.
With the switching over of side, position of Bharatiya Janata Party in the state assembly has changed. The party, which had only 17 MLAs in the House of 40s after recently held assembly by-elections, has got a boost in terms of numbers and the saffron outfit is now stronger having 27 MLAs. Besides the party has got support of two independent MLAs, among whom one is minister.
