Mohun Bagan not to celebrate Mohun Bagan Day on July 29 by organising a physical programme

Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) Mohun Bagan Executive Committee on Monday decided not to celebrate Mohun Bagan Day on July 29 to commemorate the famous victory of 1911 by organising a physical programme.
amidst the current circumstances due to COVID-19 this year.
Srinjoy Bose, Hony. General Secretary, said, " The year 2020 has been a year of great uncertainties. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge loss to human life and the world has come to a standstill. Everyone is managing to cope up with the prevailing situation and is trying their best to fight the virus. We are sure that with continued effort and resilience we will beat the virus and emerge victorious. "
" As you all are aware that every year on 29th July we celebrate Mohun Bagan Day to commemorate the famous victory of 1911 but amidst the current circumstances due to COVID-19 this year the Club Executive Committee has decided not to celebrate the Mohun Bagan Day by organising a physical programme, " he stated.
" For Mohun Bagan family the safety and security of our members and supporters are of utmost priority. The Executive Committee has further decided that Mohun Bagan Ratna and other awards would be conferred to continue with our legacy, " he added.
The Executive Committee has unanimously decided to confer the following awards on 29th July 2020 to the following persons:
Mohun Bagan Ratna
Gurbux Singh (Hockey)
Palash Nandi (Cricket)
Lifetime Achievement
1. Ashok Kumar (Hockey)
2. Pranab Ganguly (Football)
3. Monoranjan Porel (Athletics)
Best Football Player (Senior)
Joseba Beitia
Best Youth Player
Sajal Bag ( U18 team)
Best Cricketer
Not applicable

The awards would be presented personally to those persons who are available in Kolkata.
The awardees who will be unable to receive the honour due to their unavailability in the city would be presented at a later stage when things would be normal, he informed.

" We will record the presentation of the award and also their individual messages which would be shared on our Social Media platforms, " he said.
