Mohun Bagan Head coach Sanjoy Sen quit his post

Kolkata, Jan 2 (UNI) Mohun Bagan Head coach Sanjoy Sen today quit his post after the city

football giants went down to Chennai City FC in the I-League.

After Mohun Bagan’s 2-1 defeat against Bottom rank Chennai City FC on the 7th round of I-League play at their home ground here today, Sen stepped down owning responsibility for

the team’s poor run.

“I have made up my mind. I don’t have the mentality to continue after today’s defeat which

came after three home draws,” said Sen.

"It's the end of the road for me. It is the right time to take responsibility on my shoulders and

move way from the club," Sen told reporters after the harrowing reversal.

The club is currently placed on the fifth position on the I-League table with just two wins from seven matches. Although the Green and Maroon brigade won the bragging rights in the Kolkata derby on December 3, their performances since then have only gone downhill.

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan senior official Debasish Dutta mentioned that the new coach will hopefully be announced tomorrow,.

"He (Sen) came to me after the game and shared his decision. We will decide tonight and by tomorrow, we shall share the name of the new coach. There will be no practice tomorrow. The

new coach will definitely be present when the team trains on Thursday. We will still have good relations with Sen, " Dutta added.
