The Ministry has been asked to ensure that their staff attend office at staggered working hours as per DOP&T orders dated May 18, 2020 for maintaining social distancing.

Frowning upon close quarter meetings, the guidelines state that meetings should be held through video conferences only.

Besides, the guildlines also asks for discouraging entry of visitors in the office complex, facilitate delivery and receipt of 'dak' at the entry point itself of the office.

All employees at higher risk -- older employees, pregnant employees and employees with underlying medical conditions --were asked to take extra precautions and not be exposed to any frontline work requiring direct contact with the public, it said.

It also wanted all rooms to be properly sanitised on a daily basis and handrails, lift, doorknobs, stairs, washrooms sanitised thrice a day. Employees should avoid using other employees' phones, desks, and other work tools besides using stairs as far as possible.

It also discourages use of centralised AC went for the time being, if possible. Employees should take entry into the building through different gates in a staggered manner and also avoid strictly group lunches while staggering lunch time as much as possible.
