New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Ministry of Food Processing Industries(MoFPI) on Monday approved the operationalisation strategy for Operation Greens that seeks to ensure price stability of crops like potato and tomato.
Operation Greens was announced in the Budget speech of 2018-19 with an outlay of Rs 500 crore to stabilise the supply of tomato, onion and potato (TOP) crops and ensure their availability throughout the country round the year without price volatility.
Approving the measures, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, 'Price volatility of TOP crops wreaks havoc in households of this country. This is a revolutionary scheme which has evolved after sustained dialogue with all stakeholders and we have decided the strategy to stabilise prices of TOP crops and to make sure that TOP crops reach all households in the country round the year.'
