Modi strikes emotional note ; seeks votes for BJP to further pro-poor agenda

Nagaur, Nov 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday struck emotional note for connecting himself with poor stratum and common man and sought votes for the BJP for continuity in the agenda being pursued under his regime at the Centre and the Vasundhara Raje led party government in Rajasthan for alleviation of life of the needy population.
Addressing election meeting for garnering votes for his party nominees from the district in December 7 Assembly polls, Mr Modi said that a leader (like him) who is emerged to power from amongst the poor and commoners could only understand and appreciate the needs and hardships of these strata.
"Those elites (read Naamdar-Gandhi) who born with a gold spoon, can neither experience and understand the hardships of poor and commoners nor can think of solving them", he said, explaining, that is why the previous Congress led regimes over prolonged period of decades could not address and solve any of basic need and problem of these strata.
"I born in a poor family, I saw my mother facing many hardships in the want of basic amenities and that is why soon after assuming the office in New Delhi, I, accorded top priority for implementing agenda for addressing needs of the deprived sections", the PM said referring schemes and programmes like toilet construction, providing free gas connections to poor families and good houses to homeless households, under the PM Awas Yojna.
He said these initiatives benefited 1.25 crore families with houses and 6 crore poor families with free gas connections.
Invoking Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the Prime Minister quipped "Had a son of a farmer(Sardar Patel) become the first Prime Minister of the country(instead of elite son Nehru), they problems of poor commoners would have been solved much before and many problems would not have even cropped up".
Seeking votes for his party, Mr Modi said "These initiatives are needed to be continued and for that I do need your blessings once more".
"I do seek your vote not for the BJP or for myself or ensuring arrangement for bringing up and education for my grand sons or grand daughters, I seek the vote for betterment of life of sons and daughters of poor sections and development of Rajasthan", he asserted.
Mr Modi also given another unique justification for seeking votes for the BJP saying "There would be conflicting situation, if a Congress government is formed in this state after assembly elections".
Elaborating on his point he said "Congress people hit by my reforms and anti-corruption drive are angry with me and on returning to power in Jaipur (after a gap of 5 years), they would confront with Delhi(ruled by BJP) and the state and it's people would suffer".
Moreover, I do need more time to eradicate corruption as I could cleanse if only at higher level, lower levels are yet to be cleansed, Mr Modi asserted.
As usual, he also kept at target Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and also yet again raised references made by some Congress leaders about his caste and parents.
