Paris, Aug 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi who began his government’s second term recently after securing a massive mandate in general elections, said on Friday that his government, within 75 days of coming to power again, has taken a number of strong decisions to root out corruption and terrorism.
“In new India, the way in which action is being taken against corruption, dynastic politics, loot of people’s money, terrorism, this has never happened before. Within 75 days of the new government coming to power, we took many strong decisions,’’ he said.
Talking about the BJP’s landslide victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Prime Minister said, “I want to tell you that India is now surging ahead, the mandate we got is not merely for running a government but for building a new India.”
Addressing a gathering at UNESCO HQ in Paris, Mr Modi said India will achieve most of the climate change goals set for 2030, in the next year and a half. He said in 'New India', the government is dedicated towards tightening the noose on corruption, nepotism, loot of public money and terrorism.

While addressing the Indian community here, Mr Modi said: People gave a resounding mandate to our government for building 'New India'. He said India is moving fast on the path of development.
On Triple Talaq, he said, “We did away with the practice of Triple Talaq, injustice cannot be done to Muslim women in New India.”
On abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Modi invoked Lord Rama and Krishna to suggest that a country with such a strong cultural heritage had to carry the burden of ‘temporary’ provisions for as long as seven decades.
Referring to India's healthcare programme has become world's largest healthcare programme. The Ayushman Bharat covers more people than the entire populations of US, Canada and Mexico combined.
The Prime Minister said, "I have come to a nation of football lovers, you very well know the importance of a goal that is the ultimate achievement. In the last 5 years, we set goals which were earlier considered impossible to fulfill."
Asserting that India is developing rapidly, PM Modi said, "When I come among you today, I can say that not only did we embark on that journey, but with the collective efforts of 130 crore Indians, India is moving ahead on the path of development at a rapid pace. This is the reason that once again the countrymen have supported our government by giving a more powerful mandate."

India and France's alliance can be summed up as "infra", whether it's the solar infrastructure or any other form of infrastructure. "In a few days, India will become the first country to land close to the moon's south pole - an achievement that not just us Indians, but the world is proud of," he said.
Recalling India's participation in World War 1, he said, "Thousands of Indians gave their live in a war that wasn't even theirs. India fought here in France too during World War I and 9,000 of our soldiers gave up their lives in battle. We should never forget their sacrifice."
The Prime Minister also held one-on-one talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday night where the two world leaders discussed Kashmir among other issues.
Mr Modi said the relationship between India and France was not based on any selfishness, but on solid ideals of 'Liberty, Equality and Fraternity'.
“The friendship between India and France is unbreakable. The relationship India and France share is more than just friendship... The Indo-French relationship has stood the test of time,” he added.
Mr Modi also said, “France’s contribution in India’s development is immense. Day after day, our relations are growing stronger. India and France have fought, lived together and moved shoulder to shoulder.”
Talking about global warming a major challenges before the world, the PM said, “There were lots of talks on climate changes but there was less action on it. India and France started international solar alliance and I’m happy to inform you all that 75 countries have joined our alliance to fight against global warming.”
