Modi invokes Sardar Patel in Telangana, slams TRS, Cong for 'parivar' rule

Mahabubnagar, Telangana, Nov 27 (UNI) Affirming the role of Sardar Patel in the merger of Hyderabad with the Indian Union, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday slammed ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and opposition Congress for indulging in 'family politics.'
Addressing a gathering in Mahabubnagar in the poll-bound state, Mr Modi said, "if a farmer’s son (Sardar Patel) had been India’s first Prime Minister, farmers plight in the country would have been different."
“Seventy years of misrule by the Congress at the Centre and five years of mis-governance by the TRS in the state are the reasons for the distress farmers are suffering”, he alleged.
The Prime Minister promised that the NDA government will deliver houses for all Indians before 2022, when the country will celebrate its 75 years of Independence.
“The house will be given in the name of the elder woman in the family. It will have water, electricity, gas connection and toilet”, he said and listed the welfare measures for farmers launched by the NDA government.
He took a jibe at Congress, which is leading grand alliance comprising Telugu Desham Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Communist Party of India (CPI), for accusing family rule of K Chandrsekhar Rao KCR-led government.
“When the mother (Sonia Gandhi) was saying that the TRS government is playing family politics, her son was sharing the stage with her, and they were talking about family-centric politics”, he said.
He criticised both the TRS and the Congress and said KCR and his family think that they can win elections without doing anything like Congress did for 50-55 years.
“But times have changed now, no political party can stand even for 50 months, if they do not work for the development of people”, Mr Modi said.
Addressing a public rally in Nizamabad earlier, Mr Modi criticised the Congress and TRS and that the parties are like two sides of the same coin.
He also slammed the Chief Minister and said “KCR had said that he would transform Nizamabad into London, but look at the conditions here. The region lacks development. He should better live in London for five year to see how that city is.”
He said Telanagana and AP are suffering after the Congress divided the state. He pointed to the divisions of MP, UP and Bihar during former Prime Minister (late) AB Vajpayee's rule.
“When Atalji divided Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, six states were formed and all of them are rapidly progressing”, he said.
Mr Modi said the Chief Minister did his internship under (Andhara Pradesh Chief Minister) Chandrababu Naidu and later under Congress government at the Centre.
“TRS is a xerox copy of the Congress. There is no difference between both the parties. Both the parties back dynastic politics, casteism, vote-bank politics”, he alleged.
In Nizamabad, Mr Modi said that Telangana was formed after several years of struggles and sacrifices of the youth.
“State government doesn’t have the right to destroy the sacrifice”, he said.
Mr Modi left for Delhi in the evening. He will visit Hyderabad again on December 3 to address a public meeting.
In 2014, the BJP bagged only five seats in the 119 assembly, whereas the TRS won 63 and the Congress won 21 seats.
The Assembly election in Telangana will be held on December 7.
