Modi flays Odisha govt for neglecting the farmers problems

Khordha, Dec 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flayed Naveen Patnaik government for its failure to provide irrigation, safe drinking water and the MSP to the farmers who are forced to move the neighbouring states.
Addressing a massive gatherings at Gosala ground here, Mr. Modi said the ruling party in its election manifesto had promised to provide irrigation to 10 lakh hectares but able to irrigate only22,000 hectares only.
He regretted that one third of the blocks in the state lacked proper irrigation facilities and the farmers are not getting the MSP fixed by the centre for the produce in the absence of mandis.
The BJP led government at the centre, Mr.Modi said had implemented the recommendations of the Swaminathan committee and raised the Minimum Support Price of 22 crops including paddy by one and half times of the cost of production but the benefit , is reaching not the farmers.
The BJP government he said at the centre was working day and night for the development of the farmers to double their income in a scientific way.The situation in the country is changing fast.
Taking a pot shot at the Odisha government, Mr Modi said the PC culture and corruption was rampant in the state and questioned who were shielding and protecting the Chit fund scam.
He also criticized the government for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme depriving the people the health benefit schemes when over six lakh people have already availed it within 100 days of its launching.
