Modi blasts Oppn over nullification of Article 370

Akola, Maharashtra, Oct 16 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lashed out at the principal opposition party Congress and its allies for creating a hue and cry over the abrogation of Article 370 and charged that they had malicious intentions in not fully implementing the Constitution drafted by Baba B R Ambedkar.
'These people had malicious motives in not fully implementing Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar,' Mr Modi said addressing an election rally here.
'All of you are happy with the removal of Article 370, but the opposition is unhappy,' he maintained.
He said the Opposition does not want 'Ek Bharat, Shrest Bharat'. 'They want a divided India, a scattered India, a fighting India,' he stated, adding that Jammu and Kashmir and its citizens are the children of Mother India.
He said the entire country stands with the patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir to counter the terrorism coming from the other side of the border.
BJP's manifesto has a page on Bharat Ratna awards in which the party has proposed the names of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule and Veer Savarkar for the country's highest civilian award.
'It is the principles of Veer Savarkar that we have put nationalism at the core of nation building,' he said, adding that 'On the other hand, there are those who insulted Baba Saheb at every step, keeping him away from Bharat Ratna for decades.'
These are the people who insult Veer Savarkar, he maintained.
Highlighting the work and schemes implemented in Maharashtra by the BJP Government , he said,' Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, you've witnessed a government for five years whose target was development of Maharashtra, its people and the progress of every individual.'
The initiative of the people of Amola to clean the Morna river is commendable, he said. 'I remember I had mentioned this on 'Man Ki Baat' last year. I pay my regards to you today,' he stated.
Mr Modi will hold public rallies in Jalna and Panvel districts of Maharashtra.
Assembly elections to 288-seat Maharashtra assembly will be held on October 21 and counting of votes will take place on October 24.
