Mob tries to burn Assam Rifles camp in Nagaland

Kohima, Dec 5 (UNI) The situation of Mon district is reportedly going bad to worse as a big agitating mob of public around 20 to 30 thousand, protesting against the firing incident where 10 civilian, tried to burn the camp of 27 Assam Rifles camp in Tiru area under Mon district today and Assam Rifles personnel resorted to blank fire to drive away the mob.

According to sources in Tiru area the mob started assembled in the Tiru town and marched towards the camp of Assam Rifles, some of them carrying their personal guns and other weapons attacked from different sides and able to set fire some portion of camp, which compelled the Assam Rifles to resort to blank fire. The people came from different parts of the district, still was standing in front of Assam Rifle camp demanding to hand them the culprits who open fire to kill the civilians yesterday. However, the Assam Rifles personnel are reportedly safe, sources said.
