Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) As many as 16 passengers sustained injures after Lingampalli-Falaknuma MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) train collided head-on with a stationary Kurnool City-Secunderabad Hundry Express train at Kacheguda Railway section here on Monday.
Due to the collision of MMTS train with the engine of Hundry express, the loco pilot of MMTS train Chandra Sekhar, who was stuck in the loco cabin, was rescued alive.
The dedicated work carried out for a period of 8 hours continuously by a team of railway authorities along with NDRF and State government officials enabled rescue of the loco pilot alive and shifted to hospital for further treatment, SCR said in a release here.
Due to head-on collision, five coaches of MMTS train and three coaches of Hundry Express have been affected and 16 passengers were injured.
All the 16 injured passengers were immediately shifted to hospital and in which, nine of them were discharged, while remaining seven are undergoing treatment at hospital.
A high-level enquiry has been ordered with Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Central Circle, Secunderabad on Wednesday to establish the facts and investigate the reasons behind the incident.
