Mizoram police to launch No Tolerance Drive against vehicles in Aizawl city

Aizawl, Dec 1 (UNI) With Mizoram police set to launch a ‘No Tolerance Drive’ against vehicles in Aizawl city starting December 9, long queues of vehicles at Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) booths are causing significant disruptions to traffic flow.
Police officials stated that the drive aims to ensure road safety during the Christmas and New Year festive season. Vehicles without valid PUCCs, driving licences, insurance, or, in the case of commercial vehicles, fitness certificates, are being fined on the spot as part of the intensified checks on major roads.
Aizawl currently has four PUCC booths operated by the state pollution control board, with the busiest located near the Secretariat in Khatla area. These booths have been overwhelmed with vehicle owners seeking certification since late November.
