Mizoram CM calls on Paswan for enhancement of coverage under National Food Security Act

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister PU Zoramthanga on Friday called on Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan here at Krishi Bhawan regarding enhancement of coverage and allocation under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The Mizoram Chief Minister highlighted the fact that after the implementation of National Food Security Act in 2013, the allocation of foodgrain to the state has come down and 64.73 per cent of the beneficiaries are being covered under NFSA and the remaining foodgrain is being procured from open market by the state government.
Therefore, the Chief Minister demanded that the percentage coverage of beneficiaries be increased to atleast 80 per cent, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said in a statement.
