Mizoram BJP refutes Christian persecution in Rajasthan

Aizawl, Feb 12 (UNI) Mizoram BJP has refuted allegations that a Christian pastor was tortured by BJP workers in Rajasthan, after a video clip went viral on social media.
“We immediately inquired about the video clip with Rajasthan unit BJP leaders and the state government, who informed us that such incident did not take place in Rajasthan,” state BJP spokesperson Johny Lalthanpuia said in a statement, and dismissed it as “lies spread by Congress.”
The Rajasthan BJP leaders went to say that they were not like Congress who use violence, he said.
Moreover, no Indian news media carried the alleged incident, which strongly indicated that it was fabricated, the BJP statement said.
“If you watch the video closely and listen to the voices, it became clear that the incident took place elsewhere in the world, probably somewhere in Latin America,” the BJP said.
It has become clear that the video clip was another desperate attempt of the Congress party to tarnish the image of BJP, employing its age-old tactic of trying to paint the saffron party as “anti-Christian.”
The BJP also attacked some Christian pastors in Mizoram who have said BJP is a threat to Christians. “Those pastors are naturally pro-Congress and chief minister Lal Thanhawla’s sycophants,” the BJP alleged.
The BJP urged the Mizo people to be able to tell between facts and baseless political allegations, especially the tactics employed by the Congress party that falsely claims to be the champion of secularism.
“The Congress party is heading for a doom, and all these baseless allegations spread by them should be taken as their swan song,” the BJP said.
The BJP reiterated that the Constitution of India that provides its citizens free choice of religion would not be shaken under the BJP rule. The BJP would do nothing to destroy the principles of democracy in India.
