Mixed reaction on exit polls in UP

Lucknow, May 19 (UNI) Parties across the political spectrum reacted differently to the outcome of exit polls in Uttar Pradesh which has predicted another term for NDA, with BJP saying the predictions were as per expectations of the party while the Opposition denied to accept it on Sunday.
State BJP general secretary and in-charge of western UP Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here that now there should be no doubt before the opposition that Modi is returning to power as people of the country has voted for a strong Bharat.
"In UP too, BJP will give surprising results and the SP-BSP alliance will be wiped out along with Congress," he said, adding that the tally TV channels were showing through Exit polls was less and it will increase.
"In UP, BJP will get no less than 74 seats," he said. "Take my words Congress national president Rahul Gandhi is losing election from Amethi," he claimed.
Mr Pathak congratulated the party workers at the booth level for this success and attributed this winnable prediction to the hard work of the workers.
On the other hand, Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhury said that the alliance had done very well in UP. "The Exit Polls are not the last word. You see the contradiction. One channel says that alliance will win 56 seats in UP while the other is saying the BJP will win 60 plus seats. Who is correct? In fact, no one is correct. The actual result will come on May 23," he said.
According to Mr Chaudhury, the alliance would win no less than 70 seats in UP. "There was a wave in favour of this alliance which has been translated into votes," he said.
A senior Congress leader Amarnath Agarwal too termed the exit polls as time pass.
"This (Exit Poll) is just a spice which adds flavour to election process. No politician takes the outcome seriously. Just analyse how true the prediction of these Exit Polls were. In 2018, all exit polls said BJP will form government in Chhattisgarh but actually it was Congress which came to power," he said.
"Wait for May 23, the BJP will be decimated," the Congress leader concluded.
