Mission Shakti: Women to take care of community toilets

Lucknow, Nov 28 (UNI) Promoting the successful ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign of the Uttar Pradesh Government that aims to make women self-reliant and self-confident, the Panchayati Raj department handed over the responsibility of the maintenance of community toilets to a group of women of Self-Help Groups in Lucknow on Saturday.
These women are among the 58, 000 women who are to be entrusted with the management of community toilets constructed in all gram panchayats of the state. The women will be paid Rs 6,000 per month for this work.
In a sequence to make the daughters of UP self-supporting and confident, the event was also organised for women’s rights, mental health, and psychosocial counseling by the Panchayati Raj Vibhag.
