Mirwaiz again put under house arrest; curb on Geelani, Malik continues

Srinagar, Dec 9 (UNI) Moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq, who was for the second time since July 9 allowed to offer Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid today, was again put under house arrest in the summer capital, Srinagar in the evening.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik was on December 2 detained in Srinagar, while hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani continued to remain under house arrest.
A spokesperson of moderate HC told UNI that that as soon as Mirwaiz reached his Nigeen house after offering Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid, a large number of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police personnel were deployed outside his house.
