Minister Samdup inspects 360 ft North Sikkim Bailey Suspension Bridge on foot

Gangtok, Jan 29 (UNI) Minister for Roads & Bridges, Samdup Lepcha, today visited the under-construction Munshithang bailey suspension bridge in North Sikkim.
The bridge connecting Lachen, a renowned tourist destination to rest of the State, also a border village, has been under construction since October 2019.
Minister Lepcha, was conducted through the 360 ft bridge, on foot by the Major Prashant Lalotra, Officer Commanding 86 Division of General Reserve Engineering Force.
Major apprising the Minister about the present status of the bridge said, 95pc construction has been completed. The rest is expected to be completed within a month. The capacity of the bridge is 24 tonnes of truckload at a time. It is anticipated that vehicles will also be able to use it.
