Miniscule share of NE in India’s exports to Bangladesh: ADB country director

Guwahati, Oct 22 (UNI) The North East Region (NER) of India is rich in resources, but it’s contribution to the country’s economy has been low with the region accounting for a miniscule portion of its exports as the items exported from NER are low-value added products and natural resource based produces.

Making a presentation on Prospects of Indo-Bangladesh Cross Border Trade in the light of Recent Developments, at the inaugural session of a two-day India Bangladesh Stakeholders’ Meet here today, Kenichi Yokoyama, country director of Asian Development Bank (ADB), pointed that India and Bangladesh are major trading partners, but NER’s share is marginal.
