Min asks Law University to scale up Community driven pilot to all tribal villages in Telangana

Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI) Telangana Minister for Tribal Welfare Azmeera Chandulal today said the tribals in Telangana suffer from inaccurate land records and insecure rights to land.
Aaddressing the gathering as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function of One-day consultation on “Land Governance in Tribal Areas: Issues and Perspectives” organised by Centre for Tribal and Land Rights, NALSAR University of Law and Landesa (Rural Development Institute), here, Mr Chandulal said it is important to update all the land records and provide secure rights to tribals on the lands which they are cultivating.
This is mandatory, so as to enable the tribals to access all the benefits, the Minister said the innovative and unique community driven land records updation model developed and piloted by Centre for Tribal and Land Rights (CTLR), NALSAR and Landesa is praiseworthy and worth scaling across Telangana.

Meghalaya police investigating cause of Sunday explosion

Shillong, Oct 2 (UNI) The bomb squad of Meghalaya police is investigating the cause of the explosion inside a scrap dealer’s shop on Keating Road here, with the bomb squad on Monday collecting samples for analysis from the site.Five people were injured in the mysterious explosion on Sunday.Initially, police suspected that it was a cooking gas cylinder that caused the blast, but preliminary investigation has ruled out that angle.“The bomb squad visited the explosion site again today to collect samples to analyse the exact cause of the blast,” a police official said.Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh visited some of the victims of the blast at the Shillong Civil hospital.Some of the victims received burn injuries ranging from 10 to 40 percent.One of the seriously affected victims has been shifted to Guwahati.Those recuperating here would be referred to Guwahati for specialized burn treatment once their condition stabilizes.
