Srinagar, Jul 4 (UNI) An unidentified militant was killed by security forces in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Saturday, a police spokesman said.
He said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at village Arrah in Kulgam district this afternoon. However, an encounter ensued after militants hiding in the area opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons.
An unidentified militant was so far killed, he said, adding that the operation was on when the reports last came in.
