According to a release here today, a 36-year-old woman suffering from liver cancer got a new lease of life when doctors at JIPMER performed a series of complex procedures to remove cancer from her liver. The lady, hailing from Madurai, came to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Reserach in August 2015 with advanced cancer in her liver. The size of the tumor was 11 cm and it was occupying more than 70 percent of the liver. It was involving right and middle part of the liver sparing only the small left part. Surgery was not possible because of the advanced tumor. Moreover the unaffected part of liver was not enough for life if surgery would have been performed then.
