MIDC woman regional officer among 3 arrested in bribery case in Sangli

Sangli, Dec 11 (UNI) The Sangli division of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a top woman officer, her assistant and a clerk of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant in the Corporation’s office here.
The alleged accused -- Swati Santosh Shende (43), regional officer (first class) of Sangli MIDC and who is also deputy district collector, assistant regional manager Subhash Maruti Mali (53) and Sunil Bhupal Kurne, a clerk on contract basis -- had sought Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant for giving a consent certificate to secure a bank loan against a plot in Sangli MIDC for purchase of some raw materials, an ACB press release stated here.
However, aggrieved complainant informed about this to local office of ACB, whose officials laid a trap at MIDC office and caught red-handed the trio while accepting bribe money from the complainant, the release added.
