New Delhi, May 26(UNI) In order to further enhance its Youth Spark project, the leading IT firm Microsoft in partnership with NASSCOM instituted its fourth edition today under Skill India Initiative to skill 300 underserved girls on coding and computer science programmes.
The project was launched in 2004 and it would train the girls between 15-24 years of age group.
“Youth spark project for underserved communities’ accounts to underserved by technology and resources and the project has been undertaken to access boost in skilling ability and entrepreneurship. To create programme which is made to take technology in a higher level. Underserved children basically from tribal areas have always been a challenging task for us as sometimes programmes are not able to reach out in those remote areas. We have undertook programmes in Gujarat, North Eastern regions, Karnataka and West Bengal. Our next plan is to carry out the project in Uttar Pradesh,” said Manju Dhasmana (Community Affairs Lead, Microsoft India) to UNI.
The courses which include introduction to Java, animation, fractions, texting, logical operators, web page and introduction to html are being designed through interactive fun filled exercises, gamification and accurate voice commands.
The curriculum is specifically designed keeping the youth in mind and will serve as a key differentiator for employability and also help them achieve greater efficiencies by designing small programs and software patches.
“Skilling employability in broader aspect is our next idea and our primary focus underlies on the fact that basic technology skills can help anyone and everyone do more and be more regardless of the field they work in” added Dhasmana.
