Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Mumbai Indians' Lasith Malinga bowled a brilliant spell of 35/3 and restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 133/7 in stipulated 20 overs in the IPL match here at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
After put into bat first by MI, the opening duo of Gill-Lynn gave KKR a good start. KKR openers scored 49 runs in powerplay without losing any wicket.
However, first ball after the powerplay fetched MI their first wicket as Shubman Gill got lbw out in the bowling of H Pandya. Gill was not able to continue his great form and scored only 9 runs in 16 balls.
After Gill's departure, Chris Lynn also couldn't do much and got out after scoring 41 runs in 29 runs with two fours and 4 sixes.
Once Lynn got out, KKR batsmen was not able to bat freely and lost wickets one after another. Even inform A Russell dismissed on zero in the bowling of Malinga while facing his first ball of the match.
KKR batsman, Robin Uthappa struggled all through the innings and could score 40 runs in 47 balls with one four and three sixes.
In the end, KKR somehow managed to post a total of 133-7 runs in stipulated 20 overs.
For MI, Lasith Malinga Hardik Pandya was the most successful bowler and took wicket 3 wickets while J Bumrah and H Pandya claimed two wickets each.
