New Delhi, Sept 26 (UNI) As protests continued apace at the Banaras Hindu University, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has summoned BHU Vice-Chancellor Girish Chandra Tripathi to Delhi. However, there was no clarity whether the V-C summoned in connection with the recent student unrest on the BHU campus over the police crackdown on agitated students protesting against an eve teasing incident. BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh claimed that he had gone to attend the Executive Council's quarterly meeting. UP Government spokesperson Srikant Sharma told the media in Lucknow that the Yogi Adityanath government will order a judicial probe into the heavy-handed police treatment against girl students who were left black and blue in the lathi charge. He assured that strict action would be meted against the guilty policemen. Certain quarters were upset over Mr Tripathi attempting to trivialise the incident by stating that the administration would not be able to run the educational institution if forced to pay heed to every complaint of every girl, sources said. The incident occurred when students protesting outside the VC's residence wanted to meet Mr Tripathi against the harassment of a woman student by three men on a motorcycle inside the campus as she returned to her hostel.
