Mercury poured on Sabarimala temple mast with devotion: MLA

Vijayawada, Jun 26 (UNI) Ruling Telugu Desam party MLA Bode Prasad said that six devotees of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh went to Sabarimala temple in Kerala and placed five-metals, consisting of mercury, at the sacred mast with 'devotion'.
Talking to media here today, the MLA said that six devotees from Chinnavogirala and Gudiganta, in his Penamaluru Assembly constituency, went to the Sabarimala temple to worship Swamy Ayyappa. As part of their worship, they put five metals, included mercury, at the golden mast with devotion. The mercury damaged the golden mast within few hours of consecrating. The MLA claimed that they had no intention of committing sabotage or sacrilege the temple mast and said the Kerala police arrested the six Andhra devotees for damaging the temple mast.
Mr Prasad said that he had informed the incident to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The MLA said that the Chief Minister directed Krishna District Collector and police officers to speak with Kerala officials and explain the intention of pouring mercury at the temple mast.
