Mercury above par in north India, thunderstorms likely in Northeast: Met

Pune, Oct 7 (UNI) In the regions from where the Southwest Monsoon had withdrawn, day
temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Jammu &
Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and
Rajasthan.
They were above normal in some parts of Gujarat Region, and normal
over the rest of the regions, according to the all-India weather bulletin, released here.
A high of 39.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Jaisalmer in west Rajasthan.
Night temperatures were below normal in east Rajasthan. They were
appreciably above normal in some parts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh,
west Rajasthan and Gujarat Region. They were normal over the rest
of the region.
A low of 17.4 degree Celsius was registered at Alwar in west Rajasthan.
Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Chhattisgarh,
Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, north and south interiors of
Karnataka, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep during past 24
hours.
They had occurred at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram,
Tripura, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra
Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala during the period.
Few places in Assam, Meghalaya, east Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and
Rayalaseema also received heavy showers during the period.
They had also occurred at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, West
Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh,
Vidarbha, Gujarat Region and Tamil Nadu during the period.
Dry weather prevailed over west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana,
Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Saurashtra and
Kutch during the period.
Thunderstorm, accompanied with gusty winds and
lightning, is very likely at isolated places over Assam,
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 24
hours.

Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, north
Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka during the period.
The Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Konkan and Goa, while it was
active over Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana and interior
Karnataka.
It was weaker over Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal,
Sikkim, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, west
Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat Region.
